Race reviews
| Moderate | Four declared. Oxendale (Peter Bull) 4/5 fav. Scotch Bob (David Dunsdon) next at 2/1. The favourite and Live Wire (Charlotte Benstead) 7/2 jumped the last together and it was the latter that sprinted away to win well. Scotch Bob third. |
| Restricted | Seven declared. Shamron (Peter Bull) 5/4 fav. Then Red Square Prince (David Dunsdon) at 2's and then Glenmont (Lisa Stock) at 3's. Steady first circuit then Lisa on a known stayer rather than sprinter upped the pace and said 'come and catch us' - and nobody could. Red Square Prince second with Double Thatch (Jason Merry) third. |
| Veteran & Novice Riders Confined | Five declared. Jack Of Kilcash (Nigel Benstead) favourite at 1/2. Gypsy Gerry (Zoe Lilly) 7/4 and Commasaris (Jeremy Wall) at 5/2. The favourite did all from the front. Joined by Commasaris eight from home but the grey faded from three out. Gypsy Gerry came through from behind. Both jumped the last badly and Gypsy Gerry was closing fast to the line but the favourite (looking a bit reluctant at times) held on. Commasaris finishing third. |
| Ladies Open | The only opponent to Kincora was found to be slightly lame when unloaded from its horsebox so Lisa had a walk-over. |
| Mens Open | Five declared. Tough Terms (Peter Bull) and Camden Road (Tom Hills) vied for favouritism at 5/4. 4/1 up the others. It turned into a two horse race between the fancied pair but with Tough Terms not jumping fluently it was Tom who reached the post first. Cedar Chief (Gordon Gallagher) was third. |
| Maiden |
Eight runners to conclude the day. Bavardier (Dave Brightling) favourite at 5/4. Then Arctic Drift (David Dunsdon) at 9/4 ahead of Lindron (Peter Bull) at 3's. By four from home only two were still going. Bavardier and Lindron jumping the third and second last together - the latter still needs to improve his jumping. The favourite jumped the last just behind but Lindron lost impetus with another iffy jump. Peter then closed the gap all the way to the line but the favourite held on. |
