Race reviews
Hunt

8 runners faced the starter for this race although temperamental Physical Fun could only be convinced to canter to the first jump where Chris Gordon had no chance of getting him off the ground. Shove On Tommy (Stuart Robinson 14/1) went twelve lengths clear turning for home but tired between the last two fences. Viking Lily (Didy Rowell 33/1) jumped passed him at the last fence to take the victory by a length from Three Of Clubs (Peter Bull 6/4 fav.) who relegated the Robinson horse to third in the run-in.

Restricted - Div. 1
(divided on day)

Twelve horses started the first division of the Restricted (divided on the day). Lovelock (Neil King 3/1) took the lead at the top of the hill second time round and was always in control. Glenmont (Lisa Stock 12/1) ran on past tiring horses in the run for home to take second. Chill Factor (Andrew Sansome 20/1) lost touch going up hill but ran on again past a tiring Paddy Clyde to finish third.

Restricted - Div. 2
(divided on day)
Another twelve for the second half. Winner of a maiden here last year Rainbow Ranch (Chris Gordon 2/1 fav.) & Glory Trail (Philip Hall 5/2) jumped themselves into the lead four from home. The favourite took the lead with better jumps at the next two but Philip Hall drove his horse back up alongside over the last and got his horses nose ahead at the important point. Oxendale (Peter Bull 8/1) was slowly making ground on both leaders towards the end but nowhere fast enough to trouble the leaders.
Club Conditional

18 contested the club race. Belvento (David Dunsdon 9/4) Whispering Pines (M Miller 2/1 fav.) Dixon Varner (Fraser Marshall 9/1) & Peafield broke away from a large group still in contention turning for home. David Dunsdon jumped his horse to front at the second last and was always going slightly better whilst Dixon Varner just edged out the favourite for second on the run in.

Ladies Open

The 11 runners got off at the second attempt. Caldamus (Rilly Goschen 11/2) was one of two greys that made the early pace. However Frazer Island (Alex Embiricos 7/2) made steady progress over the last half mile to take the lead off the grey turning for the last. Basincroft (Lisa Parret 20/1) ran on towards the end of the race to take third from Starpath in the run-in.

Mens Open

Real Value (Andrew Hickman 4/6 fav.) was a short price in a 10 runner race. However, on paper, this was no push over as it contained several useful Open Class pointers and ex-'Rules' runners. However it turned out to be quite easy. Gamay (M Miller 7/1) had no answer when Andrew upped the pace two from home. Early pacemaker Hawaiin Youth (Simon Cobden 10/1) inherited third when Satcotino unshipped her rider at the third last.

Open Maiden - Div. 1

The rain was falling quite steadily as the 16 maidens (from 18 entries) lined up. Lordston (David Dunsdon 5/1) and Larkus Aurelius (Peter Bull 16/1) went head to head over the last four jumps before David forced his horses ahead in the run-in. The Wee General (G Weatherley 20/1) took the third placing.

Open Maiden - Div. 2

Only 11 runners this time. Lively Lord (Chris Gordon 6/4 fav.) confirmed the promise he had already shown under rules to win readily. Sound Gossin (Andrew Hickman 5/1) never looked like troubling the winner and took second whilst Suffolk raider Stick Or Bust (Harry Fowler 14/1) held on for third.

Open Maiden - Div. 3

The final race saw 12 maidens line up. Chris Gordon had another youngster for Simon Tindall which had shown ability under rules. Sheriff's Friend (3/1) went 10 lengths clear from Moon Rising (Peter Bull 6/1) over the last few jumps with The Winkster (Andrew Hickman 5/1) a similar distance back in third.
