1952 SEASON

Nationally the weather intervened little - the number of completed meetings nationally being 195. Ten were lost one weekend at the end of March when blizzards crossed the country. Two were lost on the Welsh borders due to cases of foot and mouth.

Intriguinly the Raceform book shows the Mid-Kent meeting as taking place on the last Saturday in March (29th). Horse & Hound results state the loss of ten meetings that weekend. The Raceform book states the loss of hunter chases in the south on the Saturday, Monday and Tuesday so, given the available evidence, wea re presuming that the meeting was postponed from the Saturday to the Wednesday.

The hunting season was curtailed on the 6th and 9th of February due to the death of the king and then, in several areas, for the remainder of the season due to the Welsh 'Foot And Mouth' outbreak.
